Ever wondered how a map is built up?
The planning involved?
As I continue the work on ROTGA FFA ive decided to write some very short articles about the different aspects of the maps deisgn as I am thinking them up.
After having the basic terrain made and most of the core map systems re-written I have come to the time to start thinking about the creeps, what they will be and where.
Here is my working diagrams that help me work this out:
The first diagram shows the routes I think will be the main "roads" or travel ways that units will use and can expect the heaviest travel.
Therefore any creeps based on those lines will aggro heroes a lot and be annoying,
the next diagram shows the creep locations i have decided upon denoted by red X's.
*they cant be too near a player base or they will have a renewable source of creeps rigth outside thier bases

Recently Ive begun work on what may come to be ROTG FFA, a complete re-write of the map into a FFA based game as an alternative to the temaplay one.
Its still in very very early stages and I havent yet decided if im going to continue it or realease it but you can see a sample of the new terrain below,
After reading the comments posted before I have come up with the following idea:
At the moment ROTG FFA is a race to the score limit simlier to 'Deathmatch mode' in the teamplay game, except this time score is much easier to obtain and harder to lose.
To counter one player getting too far ahead I have come up with the following idea:
==SCORING==
killing lower level player: 5pts
killing higher/equal: 10pts
killing boss: 20pts
holding ritual: +1-2 per 10 seconds 0.1-0.2 per sec
x gold: = +1pts (purchaseable)
leveling: +2pts
first lvl 6/12/18/25: +5pts each

Just to let you know to combat the large amount of spam bots that have appeared lately ive added some addition security layers into registration,
Ive also wiped 60 bot accounts that were created yesterday, if your a real user and had your account deleted please re-register, apologies for this.
One of our members pointed out you cant have more than 4 images in a thread. I have now adjusted this so you can have as many as you like to make your guides/articles look great, just please dont abuse it or a limit will have to be enforced.

Currently I'm making guides like my life is depending on it,
so before everything goes crazy and disorganized I make

After that rather depressing domain fees post I have an idea i'd like to share with you all,
I was hosting again on bnet the other day, and it occured to me that apart from the large download, when pple got in
game one of the biggest issues that spoiled games was the people simply did not work as a team.
For example, if one player is crap, or afk or something, the other teammates would become disheartened and leave etc.
It also occured to me that bnetters almost always play in a solo style on it and the current version of ROTG demands
teamwork.
Therefore, an idea emerges.
What about ROTG FFA?
Obviously the current map being built around teamplay could not have just an additional mode added as every mechanic would have to be revised for it to work.
Hence, it could be done on a 'new' map based off the orginal.

Just to let you guys know, I just paid the latest Bill of £23.
That takes the total amount for this hosting to £89 ive shelled out so far.
Im getting a little tired of footing the entire bill for a resource thats essentially for other folks tahn myself, So I ask if when the next bill shows up in a few months if a few of you that like this site and find it handy help fund towards its hosting as the full bill on one person isnt very fair and if this continues this site may end up going down.

Today after noticing some bugs with the latest version I have released this add-on hotfix to address these issues before too many people get thier hands on a version that had a bug or two.
This should fix all current known issues apart from the extra line breaks in the tooltips as thats a problem with one of the compilers not the map itself.
