Chenlimin's Guide To Teaching New Players

Introduction

Teaching new players are very hard, and requires a large amount of patients and the in-depth knowledge of the game.

New players are important as we are lacking players now, and most important posters on the forum. The main goal of teaching new player is to make them understand and like the game. And if possible, make them forum goers.

Hosting

Unless you have a friend who can host for you, you need to be able to host. Here is the steps.

1.http://www.portforward.com/ to port forward for hosting.

2. http://www.utorrent.com/testport.php?port=6112 to check if your war3 port was open.

3. Set your war3 port to 6112 (it was normally)

4. Host.

There are other ways to host using other stuff of course.

Game Waiting Room

Here comes the tricky part, getting players to join your game. First try to get attractive names.
Good:
RequiemOfGod!AllJoin(HeroArena) :Putting "RequiemOfGod" in makes it hard to understand, making people joining to find out about it. (IT FITS)
Requiem Of The Gods!! ALL JOIN :Pretty much the same as the one above.
JOIN FAST!!ALL WELCOME :Basically welcomes people to join, can change all to newbie/new players to show your willing to take downloader.
RequiemOfGods!TrySomethingNew : People likes new things, so it can probly lures people in.

Bad:
rotg : Very bad, as a "rotg" sounds weird and un-attractive.
ROTG PROS ONLY :How can you teach new players if it's pro only?
[DR]ALL RANDOM : Sounds like dota, so dota player would join and says "this isn't dota"

And if possible, make them forum goers.

I advertise the forums each time by saying some basic info about the game then adding in-"for more info, refer to the website www.rotg.co.uk. they have a really great forum and also have guides for the heroes.

I am re-thinking about some stuff, maybe it's easier to get people to get a acc here by be-friending them and ask them to come here, 1 by 1. As mass hosting don't seem to work.
