View Full Version : The future of RotG - Where are we going?!
Hello dear members,
Eventhough I'm just a simple mod,
I feel part of the RotG team, so what's happening is a shame.
Eventhough Steelb_l_ade is paying the bills - website is still up,
I'm wondering, where is he?! How's the map going, are there any problems?
I hope you come back Steely!
And I think I can say that we all miss you.
(No I'm not gay and in love with him, just.. you know!)

My best guess atm would be that Steel simply doesn't have the time or the energy or the will to work on it. (I'd understand the lack of will to work on something going apperently nowhere, while having other alternatives to spend his spare time..) RotG has from the start beena very complex project for him, as his desire more or less was to create a flawless map.
As we all know the latest version of it is very playable, but the map itself has simply been too hard to promote.
For the moment, I've stopped playing it more or less. However, if there ever comes a time where the RotG work/playing/testing continues, I'll be right back on the boat.
This aint a leaving-the-sinking-boat statement, it's merely an acceptance of the fact, that RotG just didn't make it's goal. No one to blame, the task was just too hard.
The website will continue as long as the bills are payed yes, and I will help Steel with that, just as I did last time by covering around third of the latest bill, even though the project seemed dead. However, I do not wish to start all over with making a community if Steel some time desides to give it another go.
I have not spoken to him for some time, but I know how to get hold of him if needed. But as for how, within talking on behalf of him, I'd say the project, sadly, is put to rest for unknown time.

Hello folks, I'm still about, though I must admit being ina computer based job means I have little time outisde of work to devote to creation projects such as this,
I'm keeping an eye on things although there are not enough things I belive need changing to warrent me doing another version that everyone would have to re-download.
I still have the core files for the FFA version I was designing and maybe if I get laid off ill complete it, else I might just release the core files so other people can finish it if they wish =)
Anyway, See you all soonish, the players of b.net were just too taxing and demanding to try and teach something that was quite complex in nature.
I hosted a few games today- bnet players aren't all that hard to teach actually- it's just when they see I am a level 6 while they are 2 (not using mercen contracts), they get angry and leave. Howver, today I did encounter 2 moderately good players who actually got the game down and we actually had a fun game before my internet connection went down. =(
Just saying ROTG isn't a failure, i've actually gone back to playing it.
