Hey folks, the new version of ROTG (The first ever with AI) is ready! You can get it now off the latest map page. Hope you enjoy, changelog follows below, any questions about the AI just ask.

ROTG 1.70 Changelog
--FEATURES--
Artificial Intelligence has now been included allowing for solo games of ROTG!
Any combo can now be done including:
4 AI vs 4 AI
1 Human, 3 AI vs 1 Human, 3 AI
2 Humans, 2 AI vs 4 AI
etc.
You can now play with any number of computer players that will function in both duel mode and teamplay mode. (Deathmatch)
The AI will take over from any leavers and itself can be taken over by watching referees.
The ability to turn the AI on and off for your team has been included for players who prefer to control leavers
themselves.
The AI will buy items including advanced decision making so item builds are more random from game to game, although each
hero has their own favourite items including upgrades so the AI develops different builds depending on which AI it is
controlling.
The Ai is written to give Titan Orbs they find to the human players. (They leave it in their home base)
In combat the AI will target badly wounded enemies over healthy ones and will retreat to heal if badly injured.
In teamplay mode the AI can be "controlled" towards the ritual game by trying to seize control of it yourself.
The Ai will attempt assist friendly heroes that are engaged by enemy heroes or titans.
--GAMEPLAY--
Some changes have been made to the game triggers including the base gates and other systems to allow the integration of
the AI. None of these should be noticeable by players.
Minor tweaks have been applied.
--SPELL BUG FIXES/BALANCE CHANGES--
Many spells have been re-based, tweaked or changed to allow the AI to utilise them. Most of these changes should not be
noticeable by human players.
The AI will use about 97% of the hero powers in the game.
--ITEMS/BALANCE CHANGES--
Hand Grenades will no longer dispel buff in the target area.
Some items abilities have been changed to work better with the AI.
Minor tweaks to some item powers have been applied.
--BUG FIXES--
Many miscellaneous bugs have been fixed with the internal programming, none of which is noticeable by the in-game players.

For those who might be skeptic I can confirm that the AI plays rather well in team games and I actually lost 0-2 (3-4. 0-4) in team duel mode to it in the test games :D

(That was Gunnar + 3 AI vs 4 AI with item buying enabled, lvl 25 heroes in duel mode)

Great work Steel, the AI actually are kind of hard to play against. Wouldn't have imagined that AI would be possible for any Hero Arena, but you did it. =)

hehe, yeah it seems to be performing OK,
However I am re-uploading 1.70 today to fix a few issues I spotted last night so a re-download is probably a good idea.

I want to know if the map will be available for patch 1.24c?
Because I'm running all my warcraft TFT maps with that patch, so I can't run this one and I want to try it out.

It should work fine with 1.24C,
That's what ive tested it on, hope this helps.

It works perfectly in 1.24C too, so knock yourself out =)

hmm, you tested it in normal game mode too?
For some reason the AI seems to freeze after some time when I try it :o

Yeah, other people have reported that also,
must be a bug in the loop somewhere,
see if you can provide any more info on it, the ai was tested 4 ai vs 4 for many hours and it was fine so must be somehting to do with human player interactions.

Have to say steel, BEST MAP EVER, I was sick and tired of playing the same old melee maps over and over again and most of the maps i get off the internet have stupid plots and heroes, but yours is absolutley amazing. I have already told everyone to come to this site and download ROTG. REALLY good map absolutely love it. Got angry the first couple of times because I kept losing to the AI (very good AI by the way) but all in all i love the map.

It's really nice to see end user comments and i'm glad the AI is working out OK,

Seems a little tough for some folks!
Hopefully with now people able to try it solo it will add to its popularity.

OK, for us the AI wasn't working at all. I am not totally sure, but it seems that the AI stops acting once they got killed or sth. like that.

Until I can figure out exactly what causes that (could it be the titan cines? try disabling them) I'm not certain what to do to fix it, always seems to work ok local =)

does AI take hero soul dropped from himself? (I killed an AI while he was in his base, but he just ignore the hero soul after he revived.)

Yes they will, except AI will ignore items placed on the ground within the bases. This prevents them becoming stuck when by an enemy base's wall for example trying to pick up somehting in it.

Also players may often drop items in base re-orginasing thier inventories and it would be frustrating for the AI to steal these and make off with them!
