My Hell Knight- Preferred items
Misc
Boots of Speed / Mercs /Lifestone / Nets/ Spears/ Scrolls of Necromancy
Weapons
Broadsword/Warhammer--> Sword of Unholy Power
Armour
Plate Armour --> (Spellshatter Armour) --> Cloak of Regeneration/Crimson Armour
Artifact
Gauntlets of Unholy Power --> DawnStone
Hell Knight- Early game
I grab a weapon imediatly, either a Broadsword or Warhammer/Flail depending on resources, this is so you can apply an upgrade imediatly with Enchant Weapon for free giving you the advantage of free upgrades as early as possible. (A upgraed weapon in 3 minutes is a major boon of the hero) I then grab an extra merc scroll if I can afford it.
I usually start with +stats @ lvl 1, then firewall>enchant>firewall.
Why? Because Firewall is very weak @ levels 1-3 and really needsit lvl 4 as fast as possible. Underworld Strike is % based dmg and useless vs low hp targets. This spel shoudl be gotton later in the game when enemy heroeshave enough hp to make the spell worth it.
@ lvl 3 apply the dmg upgrade to ure weapon to be dealing the best damage in the game early on. Grab Boots of Speed + a net/spear/lifestone and play as a Tank class.
Hell Knight - Mid Game
Okay we've now had 1-3 Ritual games which brings wood into consideration when buying items.
By this point you probably have Enchant Weapon to lvl's 3-4 so I grab unholy gauntlets for splash dmg & the extra strength. Sword of Unholy Power is a great weapon for Hell Knights as it can be upgraded and boosts speed and damge greatly.
Spellshatter Armour/Cloak of Regeneration/Crimson Armour are great choices for a tank thats needs to be tough and survive severe punishment.
Hell Knight - Late Game
Hell Knights do not rely on "super items" to be good. Therefore late game I put most of my resources into one shot items like Storm Hammers, large heal potions and summons to aid in performing as a tank.
I hope these few suggestions have given you something to think over regarding HK class and you give the new hero a try.
