~Ravagore Powers~
Unstable Metabolism Information
This is commonly mistaken as a bug in the game as Ravagores always lose hitpoints passively, much like what Rabid Bite does to the enemy heroes. This is in fact, not a bug but intentional. Ravagores are designed to be ferocious killing machines and should be played as such, not a choice for a timid player, unless Ravagores attack, kill and eat constantly they will die off from hunger and thus all their abilities are geared towards shredding opponents, eating them, then looking for more opponents. Rend Flesh and Devour Flesh are both designed to offset Unstable Metabolism and more than make up for the life-drain of Unstable Metabolism.
Counters
Get out there and kill something! As a Ravagore you should not ever be standing about as you simply cannot afford the heath drain, find some creeps, pile into them and get life-stealing with Rend Flesh! It doesn't matter how much a creep camp damages you as Devour Flesh at high levels will cause your hitpoints to rocket back up so don't be afraid to pile into creeps/enemy heroes and get killing!
Also armour helps for lastability (But not items that slow you like Plate Armour & Lord Mandhammer's iron shell) and Healing Salves keep you topped up while walking and standing on the Ritual of the Gods.
Rend Flesh Information
The Ravagore gets this ability from the off as well as his first level power and it cannot be upgraded. It grants the Ravagore a lifesteal to offset his life drain while attacking. Be sure to make it more effective by increasing your base damage and attack speed so you steal more life and thus recover hitpoints faster. Many people assume that getting hitpoint boosting items will help them get over the lifedrain caused by Unstable Metabolism but in reality it makes it worse as its based off the Ravagore's Max hp. Instead max out on damage to make the most of your lifesteal power.
Devour Flesh Information
This ability is absolutely essential for a Ravagore as it allows you to recover a great deal of hitpoints after creeping. Used in conjunction with Frenzy, Ravagores can creep very fast and regain full hitpoints after it meaning they can pretty much creep forever. Although Devour Flesh is useless for fighting enemy heroes it can keep you going indefinably meaning less base returns and more creeping so you can out-level enemy heroes and stock up on gold. Ravagores rely heavily on creeping fast and creeping a lot so be sure to max out levels on Devour Flesh as fast as possible to reduce healing time between camps. Even better it costs no mana and has no cooldown allowing you to spend your gold on more worthwhile items than mana boosting ones.
Counters
Being as this spell isn't really combat magic and has no mana\cooldown it can't really be countered as such.
Frenzy Information
Frenzy is another essential power that although at first is weak, becomes very powerful at higher levels. Like Devour Flesh, Frenzy really needs points pumped into it to make it worthwhile but can get you creeping very fast, the extra damage taken can easily be soaked up and healed by use of Devour Flesh after the fight. Also thanks to the major boost in attack speed the you get many more hits and thus steal much more life. Frenzy can be used well against enemy heroes, simply wait for them to fire their initial spells then use Frenzy once their spells are cooling down to close the range fast and lay into them. Combinations of Frenzy/Savage Fury can turn the Ravagore into an absolute damage monster that very few heroes stand much chance against, which is great for driving enemies off the ritual game.
Counters
Frenzy can be countered by usage of dispel abilities like Consume Magic & Purify or dispel items such as Staff of Purification or Dispel Staffs. A good counter is also to slow, stun or disable the Ravagore so it can't attack while frenzied using spells such as Polymorph, Ice Blast, Vinewall, Shrink, Electrocute or Paralysing Shot or items such as Storm Hammers & Envenomed Spears combined with Gladiators Nets to keep him at range. Ravagore's take extra damage when frenzied so often one can be driven off by focusing it with powerful attacks/magic.
Rabid Bite Information
Certainly the least useful of the Ravagore's powers and the only non-essential ability to take, Rabid Bite can still be surprisingly useful in certain situations. At higher levels Rabid Bite will completely negate a heroes health regeneration and will quickly drain their hitpoints. This is of most use when playing the ritual game as you can run up and infect an entire team, then back off while your allies approach to help you storm the ritual while draining the enemy teams hitpoints for free in the meantime. Although Rabid Bite cannot kill an enemy it can force them to retreat to base to heal making it harder for them to gain ritual bonuses and to keep harassing.
Counters
Rabid Bite can be difficult to counter because it infects automatically by being attacked by a Ravagore, usage of dispel abilities like Consume Magic & Purify or dispel items such as Staff of Purification or Dispel Staffs will remove the disease but it is easily reacquired. First kill or drive off the Ravagore and then curse the disease once it has gone.
Savage Fury Information
Savage Fury turns you into a virtual killing machine, but must be used correctly before it is very effective. Preferably, activate it just prior to going into combat as it takes a small increment of time to activate and if chasing a low hitpoint enemy hero it might give them the chance to escape. Savage Fury has no drawbacks to its usage and at level 18 grants you bonus's equivalent to carrying a Dawnstone, Boots of Speed and a Hydra Blade(!) This can allow the Ravagore to easily overpower any other melee hero in the game and with combinations of Frenzy and the right weapon can kill entire teams in a melee slaughter. When used with Frenzy it makes the Ravagore the second fastest hero in the game and difficult to escape from, even worse Savage Fury also grants the Ravagore a free mana cost Rending Claws attack instead of Devour Flesh for the duration Savage Fury lasts. The Rending Claws attack only lasts for 1 second but has a very low cooldown so its possible to "spam" Rending Claw attacks against en enemy and keep them permanently crippled while you tear them apart.
Counters
Savage Fury cannot be directly countered unless by draining the Ravagore's mana prior to him casting it by usage of Mana Burn or Siphon Mana. You can also use abilities such as Smoke Form, Burrow and the One Ring to turn invisible and thus avoid being slaughtered but this of course means you cannot aid your allies while hiding. Hard nuking a Ravagore using Savage Fury isn't advisable due to his fast move speed and bonus hitpoints as his spell will soak up most of the damage. Instead immobilise the Ravagore until Savage Fury expires using spells such as Quicksand, Mighty Blow Ice Blast, Polymorph or Vinewall.
