Well, I was playing with the elven ranger my first game and she was really nuts. I may be a bit preemptive since I've only player two heroes, but her ultimate seems to do too much damage or not have a long enough charge time. I was killing intelligence and other agility heroes without even blinking.

Well.. lets put it in perspective - of course a high damage single target spell will do well vs int and agi heroes.

But, lets try to compare it to the Court Wizards ulti:

On lvl 1:

Ranger can do 350 dmg (not counting dmg reduction) to a single target. cooldown = 195. 250 mana cost

Wizard do 650 dmg when hitting some one with center of meteor - center = 350 radius. + slowing attack and movement speed by 75% for 3 sec
Thou with 1 sec longer cast time and from half the range. 300 mana cost

On lvl 2

Ranger do 550 dmg to a single unit

Wizard is same as before, only now the cooldown is down to 220 from 300

On lvl 3

Ranger do maximum 750 dmg to single unit - by that time people playing against i should have upgraded their armor a fair amount which makes the dmg like 600-650'ish - still 1 target

Wizard is same however, the cooldown for meteor is now 15sec shorter than Finishing Shot.

if you nerf the Rangers dmg - the lvl 3 will do less dmg than the lvl 1 meteor. Difference is ranger is (almost) sure hit, whereas the Wizard's is slightly more difficult to aim with.

Keep in mind that there are magic dmg reduction upgrades.. spellshatter armour (Armor class) and spellshatter gloves (artifact class)
The demon have magic shield. Disruptor have magic protection.
But surely, every hero can't be protected against everything.

Final questions:
The ones you played againt - have they tried it before?
Where their heroes equal level to you?
Did they have proper items?

These questions are asked because the trouble is: if you ask no to them all, then theres no need to nerf it really, since players whos tried it a couple of times will learn to counter certain heroes.

And if you nerf something that seems a bit too strong vs really bad players - how will that spell work against someone good?

All in all, don't take this in harsh tone - its purely meant as a way of finding out, which circumstances the "balancing issue" were based on :)

I like your interest in the map btw.. keep going on, and maybe come play on northrend some time?

In addition to this i'd liek to add that Finishing/Paralysis shot is ALL the Ranger has going for her she is not an acomplished creeper, certainly can't tank, has no summons of her own and therefore isnt really much good for anything else besides single target pvp and although Paralysing/Finishing shot are very very powerful spells for PVP they are easily blocked and countered by someone who knows what thier doing.
In short, shes great for players just starting out, because as you stated shes very easy to rack up some kills with but when youve played a few games and tried some more heroes its easy to see that some of the other heroes can go way past what the ranger can do if you know how to use them.

By the way, is the arrow dmg magic or physical?

I believe finishing shot is magic damage.
